On April 24, 2017 the WBCCF presented grantstotaling $95,075 to 21 local, non-profit organizations. All residents were invited to attend the Awards Evening.
The West Bay family generously shares their time, talent and knowledge by volunteering at local nonprofits including New Horizons of SWFL, Laces of Love, ACT Shelter for Abused Women, Habitat for Humanity, St. Matthew's House, South County Regional Library, Hope Hospice and Café of Life.
In addition, West Bay supports our own Charitable Foundation. The West Bay Community Charitable Foundation, Inc. (WBCCF) was formed in January, 2015 and is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to strengthening our community by actively fundraising and awarding grants for the benefit of those in need. Fundraising events are held throughout the Season and include the Charity Golf Tournament, a Silent Auction held in conjunction with one of our many community parties, and several other member organized events that vary from year to year.
Proceeds are used to provide grants for local nonprofits, which are nominated by members of West Bay. The nominated nonprofits receive a Request for Grant Proposal outlining what they need to do in order to be considered as a recipient. All agencies are treated equally within the framework of the following guidelines: providing human service needs for at-risk women, children and the elderly; providing for people who need shelter, food or medical services; and providing educational opportunities for under-served students. Special consideration is given to requests that address critical needs, include matching gifts, collaboration or additional funding, create innovative programs and/or can provide measurable outcomes.
The Foundation also has an endowed scholarship, the West Bay Community Charitable Foundation Scholarship, at FGCU, given each year to a local, first generation student.
A special thank you to West Bay from Childcare of Southwest Florida!
